I am booking a tour of the Colosseum in Rome. Is it worth $50.00 more per person to see the Underground Chambers, Arena and Upper Tier? This would take the price from $61.00 to $111.00 per person.
use the official site to book these tickets. 26E for the whole tour.
Looking at that site, it appears we can buy an individual ticket for 12 Euro plus a 2 Euro reservation fee. Then, we can add a tour on for 5 Euro, which looks to be 45 minutes. Also, we then book the underground tour for 9 Euro, which is for 90 minutes. Am I reading that correctly?
If we buy a Roma Pass - do we just go to the entrance? Purchase the 5 Euro tour online plus the underground tour?
I suspect these other tours cost so much because they have fewer people. The official tour can take up to 40 people, while the underground tour takes up to 25.
Marie you are right re the pricing. Although I think the underground and 3rd ring tour also attracts the 2euro booking fee when you get to the payment section. When booking this tour you select a specific day and time.
The official underground tour will be small groups because the underground area isn't that large. I have done the tour a few times, when they were sold out and there were no more than 20 people on the tour. The cost of the official tour and entry ticket is 25 euros per person. This will include all booking fees.

Marie, you don't need to book the 5 euros regular tour and the 9 euros underground tour. The information given on both tours is the same. The only difference is where you go. After the underground tour you can visit the main areas of the colosseum for as long as you wish. Doing both tours will be redundant as the information is the same.
