Colosseum Tour Tickets

Hello,

We are a family of five (3 children ages 16, 13 & 11) visiting Rome from July 10th to the 14th. We'd like to do the Colosseum underground & third ring tour that the Colosseum provides but I'm a little confused on how to purchase tickets ahead of time on the http://www.coopculture.it website. Do I purchase 2 adult admission tickets for 14 euros & 3 reservations for 2 euros for my children and then purchase the underground & third ring tour after I purchase the admission tickets?

Thank you, Agron

I did a little research and it looks like the date I'm interested in, July 12th, will go on sale on Monday, 6/19 at 9am Rome time. Do I purchase a separate ticket for admission & underground & 3rd ring tour or can I purchase 1 ticket that includes both?

I know kids under 17 are free admission but, the underground & 3rd ring tour is not free. Kids 5 - 17 have to pay for the tour.

The Underground and Third Ring tickets include the Colesseum -- no
need to purchase both.

Sorry but that's not the case. The coopculture website states that general entry tickets must be purchased separately from the tours. If you have a tour booked, you can just buy them as the reservation desk when you show up for it (bring your confirmation printout with you). They may also be purchased online.

"IN ORDER TO VISIT THE UNDERGROUND IT'S ALSO NECESSARY TO BUY THE COLOSSEUM ENTRANCE TICKET AT THE RESERVATION DESK"

But it looks like the Underground tickets are sold out for your dates
already...

Also not the case: the underground/third-ring tours for July won't go on sale until 9:00 AM Rome time on the third Monday in June if they follow the sales pattern of the past 6 months (not formally announced yet).

Do I purchase a separate ticket for admission & underground & 3rd ring
tour or can I purchase 1 ticket that includes both?

There isn't a ticket which includes both: you must buy the tour and general entry tickets separately. Make the tour reservations for all 5 of you according to age: only your 11 year-old will be eligible for the "free" 2-euro tour reservation: the older kids will pay same as an adult ticket. You will not need to purchase separate general entry tickets for any of them, however. Those will be free, and can be picked up at the reservation desk where you'll pay for the adult general-entry tickets. Bring their passports for proof of age!

There is a very concise and helpful explanation for for purchasing underground tours on this Trip Advisor page contributed by a frequent RS forum poster (thank you, Donna!):

There is a lot of incorrect information in the above posts. Kathy gives great, accurate information but the other posts are incorrect.

Children under 18 gain free access to the colosseum, not children under 17.

Children under 12 take the tour for free. Everyone 12 and older will pay full price for the tour. You must provide proof of age to get all discounts or free tickets.

Tours for July or through the rest of they year have not been announced yet so there is no guarantee they will go on sale on the 19th. Tour tickets do not include entry. They are for the tour only. You must also purchase entry tickets.

Donna, I think you wrote the Bible on Coopculture underground tours!
Best resource on the net, IMHO. 👍

(Apologies for multiple typos in my previous post. I have willful and disobedient fingers.)
