Rick Steves' Rome book mentions private guides that stand outside the Colosseum that you can book when you get there. He quotes 25-30Euro for 2 hours. Is that per person? We are a family of 5 and trying to determine the most efficient way to visit this location. Looking at small group and private tours booked through tour companies as well, but happy to do it this way if it makes sense.

If you can, book Francesca, a guide Rick uses on the tours. She is most likely mentioned in his Italy-Rome book. She is utterly amazing! Francesca made the Colosseum ruins come to life and is among the best guides we have experienced in 8 trips to Europe. Hank, Novato, CA
