Colosseum Tickets Online. Good or bad idea?

A newspaper article recommended buying online for $17 each & picking up tickets at a special line for internet purchases. Has anyone tried this? Is it a good idea? No website was given but the company that runs the operation is Pierreci.
Thanks,
Joe

Do you plan to visit any of the other Rome sites (ie, Musei Capitolini, Borghese Gallery)? Do you plan to use the Metro? If so, you should consider buying the Roma Pass (20 euro). Here's the website: http://www.romapass.it/english/musei/index.html
You don't need to buy it in advance--wait until you get to Rome. We bought ours at the Palatine Hill entrance (no line in busy July). At the Colosseum you will get in the Groups Line (which, in July, was NOT a line) and stroll past all the other people who didn't know to do this!

Kathy,
Thanks for your reply. We will be in Rome for one day, Sept 15th so the package deal won't work for us. I never thought that the Roma Pass would be considered a Group, so today I learned something new.
It looks like the internet deal might be a good idea to avoid the general admission line.
Thanks again,
Joe

The Coliseum shares an entry ticket with the Palatine Hill which is right next to the Coliseum. Just buy your tickets there and you won't wait in line for tickets at the Coliseum.

Thank you very much. I think that is what we will do.
