I keep checking the advance ticketing for the Colosseum on the official site for our trip at the beginning of January. So far, no tickets past December 8. I had understood they went on sale a month before. Does anyone have any experience with this, or know why tickets are not opening up? All it says on the calendar is "not available online."
Thank you!
Me too - did you get any insight into this question?
Nothing yet. I wrote to the information desk- they said "a month before"-- that has not happened. So I finally bought regular admission tickets, and hope we can pay for a guided tour when we arrive.
Dates have opened up! Unfortunately, the day I wanted (1/6) was immediately sold out, and we already have tickets for the Vatican for the 7th. But there are tickets currently available for the 7th and 8th for guided tours.
wow! thanks for this update. it's quite a learning curve figuring all this out!!
Just took a quick peek at the website. There are a limited number of tickets for a "Full Experience Underground and Arena" tour in Italian for Jan, 9th so looks like tour reservations are indeed becoming available for that particular tour abt. 1 month in advance ( dates for that tour in English are sold out). The guided tour for the Colosseum which doesn't include the arena or underground is not available yet for January; not sure if anyone can tell you why that is.
