We are planning on the visiting the colosseum and other ancient sites on Wednesday, March 25. From my understanding I can purchase 30 days in advance. So that would be at 12:30am Monday morning Feb 23 (mountain time). I’m not sure the difference between the 18 euro colosseum ticket without the super sites and the arena ticket for the same price with super sites. I don’t want to spend a ton of time at the colosseum but not sure if the arena is enough? We’ve not visited Rome before. Is the full experience ticket worth it and if so I can’t tell if that is on sale 30 days in advance or just 7. I’d appreciate advice on the super site access and/or if the arena access only covers enough (I did read the arena is less crowded).
It is confusing. I recommend this video to learn more about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6alVLJj_SV4
Or if you want to search for it yourself it is RomeWise "Colosseum Tickets & Tours Explained: Complete Guide 2026"
Some tickets are 30 days to the minute of the ticket appointment time (in European time zone, so mostly during the night in the USA).
Popular tickets like the underground and attic supposedly sell out almost instantly, at least at busy times.
At least one type is 7 days in advance.
Good luck!
Thank you Tim for this information. It is very helpful!
