Colosseum Ticket Question

Couple of questions about the Colosseum ticketing.

1) I see on their website I can buy the combo ticket for 12 plus 2 euro fee. http://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm Will this ticket let me skip the line at the colosseum once we get there?

2) If I say buy a combo ticket at the Palentine Hill that Rick mentions in his book, and we say do the Roman Forum first, does the ticket let you skip the line across at the colosseum?

3) If we get the Undergound and 3rd Tier Tour from the website above, would anyone recomend doing that the first thing when we arrive at the site? This way we can have as long as we want in the Coloseum afterwards and then do the Forum and Palentine Hill last so we aren't rushed to make the 3rd tier tour.

4) In one day can you enter the Forum with the combo ticket. Then leave and go say off-site for lunch. Come back and re-enter the forum? Or does the combo ticket only get you 1 entrance into the Forum?

Sorry the only one I know is about the Underground - I would do that first, then you can stay in and keep looking around colosseum. We did that, then had some lunch, then went into the Forum.

I believe you have to book a time for the underground/3rd tier. We actually were in Rome a few weeks back for 5 nights. On day 3 (Thurs), I went when the Col first opened and checked to see if they had any times open for the underground tour (we were staying very close by - like - you could see the Col out the window of the apt). I was prepared for disappointment, but they actually had a time open for 12:40 that day. ((Maybe we were lucky, but if you don't have your heart set on the tour, you can take your chances and see if you can get a time - if you are in Rome for a few days, go day 1 and see if you can get in that day or one of the other days. Note - you cannot buy 3rd tier tours at the Forum ticket office.)) Got the tickets, went back to the room for breakfast, went back over to the Forum for an hour, grabbed a snack at the metro stn, then went for our booked underground tour. I'm fairly sure that to do the underground, you have to CALL to book the tickets - unless something has changed in the last few weeks, you can't book the underground tour thru their website.

And if you don't want to do the underground, you can go buy your tix at the Forum ticket office and that will allow you to skip the line-ups at Col.

I'm not sure about re-entering - honestly - for us, an hour to look around was fine. We used the Rick Steves walking tour on my ipod.

1) Yes, prepurchased entry tickets allow you to bypass the line into the colosseum.

2)Yes, you can still bypass the line at the colosseum even if you visit the forum or palatine hill first.

3) You could. They do offer afternoon tours so if you wanted to spend the morning visiting the forum and palatine hill you could and then visit the colosseum afterwards.

4) You only get one entry per site. The forum and palatine hill are considered one site because there is an internal walkway between the two. Once you leave you must pay again to re-enter.

You cannot book the underground/third tier tour online. You must call to do that. You can get the number from the coopculture website. You have two consecutive days to visit the sites but you only get one entry per site.
