Colosseum Standard vs Area only?

The arena only option swaps the Colosseum stands with the arena floor and adds the super sites. Which option is superior? I'm leaning toward the Standard option + super sites add on ($4). If they have an arena floor add on I'd get that too, it looks like don't have that option.

They do have the option of standard Colosseum + arena+ Palatine+ Forums+ SUPER sites in a single ticket: It's the "Full Experience Arena" ticket. €24.00 per adult.

"Ticket valid for 2 consecutive days for one access to the Colosseum (arena included) and for one access to the archaeological areas of the Roman Forum, Palatine, Imperial Fora, SUPER sites. This includes current exhibitions"

Standard ticket gives access to:
Colosseum first + second levels (the “stands”)
Roman Forum & Palatine Hill archaeological areas
Standard ticket alone usually does not include the arena floor — you stay up in the seating levels and don’t step onto the gladiator’s arena.

worldtraveller, very kindly but the OP is aware of what a standard ticket includes and what it doesn't. What they were evidently not aware of is that while there's not an arena floor add-on, like there is for SUPER sites, there is an option that includes ALL the areas of interest they've mentioned under a single, 2-day ticket.

I'm aware of the "full experience" tickets but those are hard to get and I ain't staying up until 2:30 AM to try to book those. The $18 standard or $18 Arena tickets are much easier. The issue comes down to whether the stands are better than the arena + super sites.

Gotcha, Actually, I'm not sure that the Full Experience Arena tickets are as difficult to get as the Full Experience tickets that include the Underground. THOSE are the tickets that are a bear to get hands on.

I see currently there are Full Experience Arena tickets still available for Dec. 30th and January 3rd. It's a limited amount, for sure, but looks like your trip is in mid February so I wouldn't discount being able to land them if staying on top of the website. I'd think it might not be as tough as, say, later in the spring but just guessing.

Personally? Having been to the Colosseum twice, accessing the arena floor ONLY wouldn't hold nearly the amount of interest for me as the 1st and 2nd levels. You can also see down into large parts of the underground from the 1st/2nd levels without accessing the arena. YMMV; just my 2-cents but I'd go for the regular ticket + SUPER add-on if unwilling to try for Full Experience.

Full Experience Arena tickets are less popular because it's released 7 days prior to the time of visit vs 30 days for other tickets. Waiting for such tickets involves substantial risk unless you double book.

So book whatever you prefer. As I said above (and someone who knows Rome well over on TA voted as well) I'd choose the regular ticket + SUPER add-on if unwilling to try for Full Experience.
