Colosseum & Rome Pass

My boyfriend and I are traveling to Rome in a couple weeks and want to check out the Colosseum. I've looked at the official site for tickets and I'm a little confused about the options. We don't want a tour (figured we could listen to the Rick Steves' audio tour instead). so I'm thinking of purchasing the "Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Ordinary Entrance" ticket, but do we need the ticket/reservation AND the Rome pass or just the ticket/reservation?

You only need to purchase a timed-entry, ordinary-entrance ticket for the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine. This will allow you entrance to the Colosseum at a specific day and time, and the Palatine/Forum either before or after your visit to the arena. This is the ticket you want:

If you both are over age 17 and are not E.U. citizens, you want to purchase the full entrance ticket for € 12,00 + € 2,00 reservation fee. And no, you don't need a Roma Pass.
