We are in Rome from the evening of June 1st through the morning of June 4th. We have already booked a food tour for June 1st
evening and have the Vatican scheduled for the 3rd at 4 pm. I was unable to get the tickets to the Colosseum, they were taken up within seconds. Furthermore June 2nd is their national holiday, like our July 4th (I think). I have also tried buying 3rd party tours for the colosseum and nothing is available.
So my question to you all is, given that I really have the 2nd of June and maybe morning of June 3rd ( we have Vatican that evening), how do I see Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill? I think I read in RS book that we can see the colosseum from outside. So we can do that, but what about the other two? Do they sell tickets to the other two separately?
Dennis
There are basic entrance tickets on both the 3rd and 4th available, lots of times on the 4th and starting at noon on the 3rd.

Thanks. Like I mentioned we have tickets to the Vatican on the 3rd and we leave the morning of the 4th. :-(
They do sell tickets to the Forum/Palatine Hill https://ticketing.colosseo.it/en/eventi/pass-super/
Or you can show up early and try to buy tickets day of and keep checking the website, sometimes they load more tickets a week or so in advance.
I did find this in the news "Italy marks Festa della Repubblica this year by opening state museums and archaeological sites, including the Colosseum, for free on 2 June." If it is indeed true, they aren't selling tickets that day but you can show up and try to get some.
Considering you have compressed timeframes, have you considered joining a group tour.
These might give you what you need. Costs more than just tickets but, can help provide you good timings..
