Colosseum reserve a ticket or not?

Hello, I'm confused as to whether or not a reservation is necessary for the Colosseum if we have the Roma Pass? If so, is it a telephone call and we tell them that we have the Roma Pass? Thank you for any assistance. This forum is awesome and there are so many helpful people. Grazie, Brenda

I made no reservations, but it was a while ago. You should to double-check on their website or email them.

If you're just talking about entry then, no, you don't need to make any type of reservation. If you're talking about a tour, then yes, you'll need to call to book a tour.

When using the romapass for entry just show up whenever you want to and talk to the guard at the front of the lines. He will direct you to the one to use for romapass holders. It's very simple. If you want to book a tour just let them know you'll be using the pass for entry. They'll just charge you for the tour. Again, when you get to the guard show him the reservation for the tour and he will direct you to the proper line in order to check in for the tour.

The Colosseum has a new policy. You can no longer purchase tickets at the Colosseum itself, you must go to one of the two locations mentioned below. I purchased my ticket/voucher on line and I will have to go an pick up the actual ticket from either location. Because of the new limit of personnel allowed in the Colosseum, when you pick up or purchase the ticket from the actual ticket office, they will assign you an entry time that will allow you access into the structure. I purchased my ticket through, http://www.tickitaly.com/tickets/colosseum-tickets.php, or you can do so through, http://www.florence-tickets.com/museum-tickets.html

I have received two email notifications on changes from the ticket agency that the Colosseum has made, below is the current process of getting tickets as of last week for pre ordered tickets:

If you have pre-paid for your tickets (voucher) you no longer can pick up your tickets at the Colosseum, this is a recent change. You present your voucher for your tickets from 8:30 AM onwards at the ROMAN FORUM: At the counter marked "Cassa
Prenotati". The Roman Forum is located in via della Salaria Vecchia.
Or.
8:30 AM onwards at the new ticket office at the ARCH OF TITUS: At the dedicated counter marked "Cassa Prenotati". The new ticket office is based halfway between the Arch of Titus and the Arch of Constantine, about 3-4 minutes walk away from the Colosseum.

I am really confused by the last response. We planned to buy a Roma Pass, and it was my understanding that you can bypass the ticket lines (as long as it is one of your first 2 'free' attractions) and do not have to have a reservation for entrance.

With the romapass you just go to the colosseum. The guard will direct you to the proper line in order to use the pass. You will go straight inside.

The two links listed above are not official links but are re-sellers. I have emailed the colosseum to see if this is indeed a new policy change or just something these two companies are forcing clients to do.

I just received an email from coopculture and they state that you do not need to go to the forum to pick up tickets. In fact, as has been the case for that last several years, if you purchase entry tickets online (not the print at home ones) you must pick them up at the colosseum. You cannot pick them up at the forum or palatine hill. I believe Tim is talking about the tickets issued by the agencies he has listed and not the official company which is coopculture.
