We’re heading to Rome in a few weeks. We have a small-group Colosseum tour booked for one morning with one of the popular tour companies but after reading about the late tour cancellations occurring this summer I decided to try to buy tickets on the Coopculture website and was able to secure tickets for the same day. I could only get an early afternoon time slot but figured we could do the Forum and Palatine first then go to the Colosseum so that will be our plan B. So my question is, if our morning guided tour (which is our preference) goes off okay, would I be able to resell the afternoon tickets I bought yesterday at the Colosseum gate? Not looking to make a profit, just recoup the additional €48 I spent for this back-up plan.
I have a feeling that is not allowed
Do the tix have your names on them? Do they say “non transferable” or “not for resale”
I suppose you could just give them away
I’d probably just cancel the tour and use the tickets
If you keep both you are tying up spots that others could use
Maybe somebody here could use them? If you post the date you might get takers- communicate thru PMs at that point
Slightly off topic, but how and what time of day did you secure the tickets on Coopculture? I am scared that I will miss the window since they only release tickets one month before the day you want to go.
Thank you in advance!
Officially, the answer is no - the tickets are not transferrable . Unofficially? You will be competing with all the other resellers (there are many). Do you want to be standing out in the sun during your vacation for hours trying to sell tickets for 50 euro? One must consider how much his time is worth
If your afternoons tickets are for a tour including the underground and/or the arena, see this from the Coopculture website:
"The Colosseum Archaeological Park disposes that the sales of the Full Experience underground and arena tickets only, will be nominative and will show the visitor's personal data. Please note that these tickets are nominative for each group or family member and it will not be possible to change the name after the purchase. In case of mismatch with the identity document, access to the Colosseum will not be allowed and no refund will be allowed."
So no, you can't resell those.
The ticket is in Italian so I copied and pasted it into Google translate and read this:
In no case may the ticket purchased in advance be sold for consideration nor can it be subject to intermediation.
So I’m thinking I can’t resell it.
Kristy- I just bought the tickets on the afternoon of June 4 for the 23 so less than three weeks away. I did notice the 23rd was the only day green on the calendar and that just happened to be the day I needed. The only tickets that had availability was the Audioguide+Colosseum, Forum and Palatine so make sure you check all options and keep checking even if you’re not lucky 30-days out. They had availability every hour on the half hour starting at 13:30 (1:30pm). Good luck!
