Colosseum - New Website for tix: Colosseo.it

Has anyone noticed that they open slots for May 2024 one day at a time? Trying to book for my family of 3 for 5/21/2024. Looks like they're only available up to 1 month in advance?
UPDATE 4/23/2024: The website is now opening up tickets for 1 month + 1 week in advance so don't snooze like I did, waiting for exactly 1 month before my desired date. Tickets are all gone...
***UPDATE 4/24/2024: I WAS USING THE WRONG WEBSITE!
* Use this instead: https://ticketing.colosseo.it/en/. I was able to purchase tickets for the date we wanted. I am completely confounded by the entire process.

Tickets have been sold this way on Coopculture for a long time now: approx 30 days in advance, and on Rome time. That's why people on this side of the Atlantic have been getting up in the middle of the night to try and land hard-to-get tickets the moment they went on sale.

Tickets for the Vatican museums are sold the same way only approx. 60 days in advance versus 30 days. For instance, they're not purchasable today beyond June 1.

Thank you--I had no idea. I love it when it says "4 minutes" to get to site but it's 12 minutes in reality.

Well, this new ticketing site was supposed to be up and running on Feb. 1 (didn't happen) so I assume they're still working out some bugs. Hang in there! :O/

PS: you might also try to get onto the site really early in the morning the day your tickets are supposed to become available.

Thank you--put an alarm to get up at 3am EST. Grew up in South America so am familiar with frustrating/ non-working websites. So far Florence's cultural sites webpages have been amazing; Rome's Colosseum and Pantheon not at all.

Very interesting to see how the regional governments' efficiencies/ inefficiencies reflect the history of Italy as a whole.

To be honest, I think this new ticketing portal for the Colosseum + its related attractions looks to be an improvement over the Coopculture site. While the main part of the website (https://colosseo.it/en/) is only active during the hours those attractions are open, the ticketing part is active 24/7, as near as I can tell; haven't looked to see at 3:00 AM yet. HA!

Anyway, it looks much cleaner, has less text to wade through than the other site, and at least you know where you are at in the queue. I'm hopeful!

Kathy: What's your take on booking direct through the official vendor vs. Viator or TripAdvisor tour guides for the Colosseum?

I've never used either TripAdvisor or Viator and probably never would. They don't operate their own tours: they're just a 3rd party marketplace for companies which do. The risk is getting into the middle of a finger-pointing battle between the tour operator and Viator/TA if something goes wobbly. If I'm not booking with, say, the official vendor, I want to deal directly with a reputable tour company and not a middle man.

It's a personal choice, for sure as some folks have used Viator successfully. That's also not to say that I never use 3rd-party sites as I do use booking.com for some of our hotel reservations.

Following... Finding it very difficult to book tickets for Colosseum, and Pantheon. I think I'll finally get Vatican tickets tomorrow? But I can't get on the colosseo.it website at all. It always times out. Maybe I'll try when they're open? And the Pantheon seems to only be selling tickets for April.

Does that Attico tour include the Arena? Is there any reason to choose one type of ticket over the other?
FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ENTRY TO THE ARENA OF THE COLOSSEUM vs
FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ENTRY TO THE ATTIC OF THE COLOSSEUM?

Thanks!

Thank you! Yes.

With the new ticket system, can we still enter the Forum earlier in the day before the time of the Colosseum reservation?

Kathy, thank you SO much for giving me the link to the place to buy Colosseum tickets! I haven't been back on here for a few days and just noticed your reply now. SO helpful. Now I'll just count down the days till we can purchase some for early June. :)

Well, I snoozed, got busy with life and work--I had been waiting for exactly 1 month before the date we wanted (5/21/24) and the tickets for that date were all sold out on 4/21/24. Looks like the website is making tickets available 1 month +1 week in advance of your desired date. DON'T SNOOZE LIKE I DID!

I want to book 3 tickets to Full experience Underground and arena for May 24, 8:30 am. I thought of doing a trial run with May 23rd as the date. I am able to access the site but unable to book any of full experience tours. I get the msg "Not enough availability for this time slot".

Regular entry ( €18) tickets are available though.
How can all the time slots for full experience be sold out? I have been trying since 8:30 am Rome time.

This thread has been hugely helpful!!! Many thanks to those who have contributed to it.

Last night after reading the original poster's 04/22 comment about tickets being available for the next 1 month + 1 week, I logged onto the Colosseum ticket website, which only showed availability for the next 30 days. Perhaps the extra week was briefly shown yesterday then deleted?

At 1:31 a.m. CDST (8:30 Rome time) this morning I successfully purchased 2 standard 18 Euro tickets for May 23 at 8:30 a.m. I did not have to wait in a queue before ordering, and I encountered no difficulties with the website.

@elizabeth: thanks for letting me know. Maybe it was taken down or maybe I made a mistake somewhere. I will keep trying when the Colosseum is actually open, which is when the website is open. Lucky for you! : )
