If I get the 24 hour pass on the official site that includes the Arena floor, am I missing out by not getting to the other (upper) Coloseum levels? It is confusing since the official one-day ticket appears to include only the Arena floor OR you can get the other upper floors without Arena floor. The 2-day pass gets you both but I don't need 2 days. (Either way, you also get Forum, etc.)

Personally? I would buy the "24h Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine" ticket. While it doesn't include the arena floor, you're going to be able to see down into much of the lowest level from other viewpoints. I think it's worthwhile to be able to access the 1st and 2nd-order levels that this ticket includes versus only the arena floor.

That said, the 24-hr arena ticket does include access to the SUPER sites at the Palatine and Forum, and the ticket linked above does not. As you've not been to any of the 3 archeological sites, best to choose the ticket that covers the areas of most personal interest?

If you are really interested in the SUPER sites, there is a ticket you could buy in addition to the "24h Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine" ticket that would provide access to them as long as they're open the day/hours of your visit.
