Trying to figure out how to secure kids tickets (ages 6&7) for the arena. My date March 12 has adult tickets available but there are no options to add reservations for the free kids. Am I missing something? Thank you!

Are you looking at the Full Experience with arena access? If you scroll down on the page with the calendar you should see:
every visitor who is entitled to free tickets according to the law (https://www.beniculturali.it/agevolazioni), whether individuals or part of groups with a guide, will be able to collect the free ticket at the cash desks located inside the Colosseum and at the ticket office in Largo della Salara Vecchia, where dedicated cash desks will be set up.
Individual visitors who are entitled to free tickets according to the law (https://www.beniculturali.it/agevolazioni) can also collect their tickets at the ticket office at the Temple of Venus and Rome.
On the first page for the ticket type:
FREE ADMISSION TICKET
Free tickets Full Experience Arena entrance will be available online, without reservation fee, in open mode.
The free admission ticket will be linked to the date of visit while it will be open for the entrance time, from the opening time to the closing time of the site access gates.
Holders of the free admission tickets reserved in this way, will be received as usual in the manner provided for eligible persons, and possibly associated with booked full and reduced at a scheduled time.
Clear as mud? Maybe someone else can offer additional insight. I had an issue with not receiving the email with tickets back in November - I called them - must be during business hours in Italy. The rep spoke excellent English and was able to resolve the problem. So maybe they could explain how to proceed over the phone.
I would go ahead and purchase the adult tickets so that you at least have those.
