Colosseum entry tickets - confused!

Hello - I'm trying to buy entry tickets to the Colosseum for end of August. It's a last minute trip so we're scrambling to figure out a lot of things, but going with the flow :)

I found the right ticketing website (thank you to this forum!), but when I select the ticket option we want, it says "Not available online" for our dates. It DOES NOT say "insufficient availability" (which I take to mean there aren't any tickets available). Any idea what this means?

Am I trying to buy tickets too far in advance? Is this a problem because it's 2am in Rome right now? i.e. do I need to wait until business hours in Rome?

Thanks!

Tickets go on sale 30 days in advance
Which date are you looking for?

There are plenty of tickets available for the "standard" 24h – COLOSSEUM, ROMAN FORUM, PALATINE category for your days - it appears for the entire month of August. The 24h Arena ONLY is also available. Are you looking for tickets that include the attic, underground, or full arena? Those are in much shorter supply and are not all that easy to obtain.

I was hoping to do the "FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ENTRY TO THE ARENA OF THE COLOSSEUM" ticket. That's the one that just says "not available online".

If we can't do that, which is better - "Colosseum" or "Arena only"? Does the regular "Colosseum" not include the Arena? Thanks!

"FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ENTRY TO THE ARENA OF THE COLOSSEUM" appears to be one of the ticket selections only sold 7 days in advance. Right now it shows as purchasable for open time slots only through August 5th (the 4th is blocked as it's a free Sunday)., Tickets for your dates won't show up for purchase until August 16th, 17th, 18th or so.

While most tickets sell 30 days or so in advance, there are a couple - the one you are wanting being one of them - that are 7 days.

Short story long, if a date on the calendar has light grey text reading "Not Available Online" tickets are not on sale for that date. There's an icon with a little ticket in a red circle with a line through it and the text "Sold Out" if tickets were for sale but no more tickets are available.

Arena Only is new this year - looks like it doesn't include access to the upper level. The regular Colosseum doesn't include the arena floor - but it's the more "complete" option of the two.
