Colosseum at Night tour experience?

We are currently booked with Walks of Italy night tour of the colosseum + underground for June. The tour is supposed to be a little over two hours, but I read an isolated review that stated they ended up being in the colosseum for only 45 minutes of that time. I know not to believe everything you read on the internet because...it's the internet, but has anyone taken this particular tour, and if so, what was your experience? How much time did you spend in the Colosseum?

As an alternative to this fairly expensive tour, we are attempting to secure tickets for the underground tour through the official website, but they only open windows for booking a month in advance so far and they sell out FAST. Currently, May is not yet available for booking. Sigh. So, I'm pretty sure we will be spending the $$ on the WOI tour.

Eric, I would contact WOI with your question? I've seen so many online reviews for so many tours where the posters have gotten the providers' names completely wrong or didn't explain the situation accurately (e.g. maybe the 45 minutes referred only to the time spent in the underground section...which I believe is about standard.)

I'm seeing other tours - like Dark Rome's -with similar prices that have the same 2-hr-15-minute or so itinerary as theirs: Colosseum underground/floor, Piazza Venezia, Campidoglio overlooking the Forum with narration at all points. To get all of this done plus minutes taken up by the entry process and walk time between sights, I can see why maybe the colosseum piece might an hour or less of the total time.

Anyway, WOI themselves would probably be your best resource.

Editing to add: I don't believe night tours include the general-entry tickets which cover not just the Colosseum but the Palatine and Forum as well so if you're interesting in exploring those the same or next day (general entry tix for all 3 attractions are good for 2 days), you'd have to purchase additional tickets.

Your other less-expensive option for seeing the colosseum at night would be to book one the coopculture tours which open up on April 6th. Again, this tour - as well as their daytime underground tours which sell out so fast - probably doesn't include general-entry tickets for the Palatine/Forum. Additional purchase of those for the daytime underground tours is mandatory.
