Colosseum at night

Rick suggests that the Colosseum might be skippable (the best bit being the outside), but I'd like to have a peek inside as well. One option is to schedule a night tour. A few years ago, a poster here had a very negative experience that seemed to be centered on a required video at the beginning of the tour. Not sure if they still do that years later or if anyone has an updated report on the experience.

Right now, I'm leaning toward just having a combo tour during the day of the Palatine Hill, the Forum, and the Colosseum since I'll want to do the others anyway.

Absolutely, that's what I'd do! The Colosseum isn't a difficult thing to get one's head around as its design largely exists today in large sports arenas...minus lions and whatnot, of course. The Forum and Palatine are both very important sites and are more complex to suss out on your own, thus they benefit from the leadership of an experienced guide. Yep, book a tour that includes all three.

Agree with the above. I found the Forum and Palatine Hill far more interesting than the Colosseum. I'm glad we saw the inside but I think the outside in the evening would be enough.
