Good Morning,
Just wondering if someone could answer a question for me or give me some feedback please. I have looked at the Roma Pass as well as hoho buses. It looks like it is less expensive to do the roma pass. Am I correct? Although, I do know the hoho buses are different in the respect you can hop on hop off to see sights and the roma pass doesn't allow that. Wondering which is the better way to go.
As well, if I go to the website for the colosseum and try to purchase tickets, I have the option to purchase tickets or there is a statement that says purchase with Roma pass. I am assuming that because the price with Roma pass becomes 30 euros per person I am actually purchasing the Roma pass as well. Is that correct?
As it's relevant, I'm going to copy one of my responses to one of your earlier threads
Anita, unless things have changed, you left out a critical piece of
info....That you will be moving 10-12 family members around on this
trip.One of your previous questions:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/help-with-sights-to-seeYou will not be able to purchase coopculture tour tickets (Colosseum)
for your entire group at the same time. Ticket purchases are limited
to 6* and they often sell out within the hour that
they become available. Additionally, by the time you paid individual
ticket/tour fees for this many people, the cost of a dedicated guide
service may cost the same or possibly even less. It would DEFINITELY
be a whole lot less messy to do that way as the website is sort of
hairball (!!!) to wade through these days, especially ticketing for a
combo of adults and minors. You might consider a dedicated guide for the Vatican Museums/St
Peter's as well but do the math... I don't have personal recos for
private guides that would take ONLY your group but I'm sure some
others on this forum might have some good suggestions. Oh, and I
absolutely vote with the others to avoid the hoho buses: a lousy way
to get around Rome. It's a wonderful city to walk, and it'll be easier
to move a group your size that way...
(*) this limit may not apply if purchasing the new Roma Pass option on the coopculture site.
So are you still traveling with and trying to buy tickets for a group of 10-12, and are you still spending just the first two days - one of which may be arrival day - of this trip in Rome? Or are you making arrangements only for yourself and/or fewer family members?
The 48 hour Rome pass is probably not going to work for you. It allows 1 free entry in that 48 hour period. The Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill
Are counted as 1, but you have 2 days to visit them. On top of that there is now a €2,00 reservation fee meaning in reality it will cost €28 + €2=€30. It does include transportation
But to make the pass pay for itself you'd need to take 9 metro, bus or tram rides. This pass does not include the Vatican Museums.
If you need to add a tour to the colosseum that's an additional €5. Add the underground another €9. This all adds up.
Have you considered doing a tour like these?

Kids under 18 are free but must pay the reservation fee with ID proof.
It may in the long run cost less.
Individual bus metro tickets are €1,50. With a daily pass at €6.
Thank You all for your help. It is appreciated
