Colloseum ticket - needed with Roma Pass? Confused

We are travelling to Rome in Sept. and plan on purchasing a Roma Pass once we arrive. I have already made a reservation via phone to the Borghese Gallery and plan on visiting the Colloseum the next day. I am confused.....some websites say to purchase a ticket for the Colloseum in order to avoid waiting in a line. I thought I only needed to show my Roma pass somewhere and walk right in. Do I need to have a ticket AND the Roma Pass? Or, can I just use the Roma Pass? Isn't there a special entrance recommended for Roma Pass holders? Where exactly do I go? Thank you for all your advice.

Your romapass is your ticket. Just go to the center turnstile to get in with the pass. Your romapass will also get you into the forum and colosseum and still only count as one entry. Donna

Yes your Roma Pass will get you into the Colosseum. When you arrive at the Colesseum, you can pass the line of people waiting to purchase tickets. Everyone, however, must go through security. The confusion might be due to the reservation needed for the Underground Tour. There is a fee associated with that. It is not covered by the Roma Pass as it is a special exhibition. I hear it is wonderful and not to be missed. We are going in September and I made a reservation for the Underground Tour. You cannot make this reservation on line. You must call. If you are interesed in details, PM me.

The Roma Pass is a good deal. We used it to ride metros, busses and get into the Colloseum and Forum. Saves a lot of hassle. Public transportation is really a good way to get anywhere in Rome. Just be on guard for pickpockets. My husband doesn't take anything in his back pockets and I don't carry a purse. We purchased our Roma Pass the first time we went down into the metro at a stand that sells snacks, drinks, magazines, etc.
