My daughter and I will be on an eleven day tour of Italy. Our first day in Rome is, "on our own". I would like to take her to the Coliseum.
It is my understanding that children under 18 are free. However, I must buy a ticket. Can they be purchased well in advance or same day only? The date would be Friday, June 23rd. Thank you!

Post back if you still have questions?
You can purchase your entry ticket in advance online at the official website. If you wait until you get to the site you will need to wait in the line which can be an hour or more long at times.

Your daughter will still need a ticket but it will be free. You can simply pick this up at the colosseum when you get there. Show the guard your ticket and let him know you need to get a ticket for your daughter. Be sure to bring her passport for proof of age. Go to the special events desk and they will give you the free ticket.
