Coastal towns of the adriatic sea, italy

Hi all,

Im really stuck for ideas. I will be driving from rome up to venice and want to stay in a small town along the east coast (nothing too touristy and want to stay away from the crowds) something similar to the cinque terre.

Any suggestions?

The Cinque Terre is not too touristy and away from the crowds?

If you are traveling during the summer (first weekend in June through September), it will not be easy to find a place that you describe. All the coastal towns with beaches get crowds. A little b fore or after, there are lots of places. Pesaro, Cattolica come to mind. In terms of topography, the Adriatic side is far less dramatic than Liguria.

This is what I would do.
I would take the A24 freeway through the Abruzzo majestic mountains. Then past Teramo I would switch to the A14 Adriatica freeway along the coast, going north toward Ancona. Before Ancona I would stop at the coastal town of Numana, next to the Mt. Conero National Park in the Marche region. That area is the most beautiful part of the Adriatic coast north of Puglia. Stay in Numana, which is probably the closest thing to the Cinque Terre you will find on the Adriatic coast. Sirolo, on top of the hill overlooking the sea is also pretty. Do a Google image search of Numana or Sirolo or the Monte Conero park and see if you like it.

I second Roberto's suggestion of Numana and Sirolo. We have now been to Sirolo three times and we have a fabulous lunch at this one room seafood restaurant off the town's balcony overlooking the sea.

My husband is an Italian citizen and we both speak the language and this is an area in which we have thought about purchasing a second home.

Thank you all so much for your responses!
Roberto - I managed to book an Airbnb in Numana. It looks great!

Morgan - do you by any chance remember the name of the restaurant in Sirolo?

Thanks once again guys :)
