Coastal addition to Venice-Florence-Rome tour

We are attracted to the picture postcard charming seaside villages in Italy. We would love to visit one of these that is a reasonable public transportation, day trip or one-two night stay prior to or after the Venice Florence Rome tour. We expect to be traveling in February 2027.

You are, of course, free to visit anywhere you wish, but I would point out that the seaside villages of most of Italy (barring Sicily) are not at their best in February. Cold, wet weather, short daylight hours, and reduced public transportation aside, many tourist amenities will be closed for the season. You could spend a couple if nights in Sorrento or Salerno ( both large enough to have year round amenities) and day trip by car or bus to the AC towns. Just keep your expectations realistic.

Last fall we really enjoyed visiting the small seaside village of Chioggia - just south of Venice. We took a bus from Venice but since your trip is in February, I'm not sure about the transportation routing/connections. There are many excellent seafood restaurants there and stayed 3 nights. It will likely be chilly in the winter season. Some of the charm is in visiting the small canal-side restaurants.

Is your tour at the end of February? In early March, you may get a sunny day, but I would consider it a major stroke of luck.
For sure put your extra time at the end, regardless of what you choose to see.
