Clothing/Weather Question

My wife and I are going on a 46-day tour of Italy that starts on September 2 and ends on October 13. It includes back-to-back RS Best of Italy and Best of South Italy tours. We start in Milan, then Lake Como and the Dolomites in early September. Then we will end in Naples and five extra days on Ischia in October. We were wondering about what type of weather to expect, and therefore what type of clothing to pack. Although we are originally from Michigan, we have lived in San Diego for the last 12 years so we have become weather wimps. Any suggestions? Since we will be on RS tours, all clothing must fit in a carry-on.

Being cold should not be an issue; something for the random rain event would be prudent

I know what you mean about San Diego and being weather wimps, LOL. What feels cold to you would not be cold by the standards of your former neighbors in Michigan. In September and October the places you'll be visiting could have sit-on-the-patio-in-shorts-and-sandals weather, or it could be chilly and rainy.

You can see actual temperature and rainfall records on the Weather Underground site. Use the "historical weather" section and search by location. https://www.wunderground.com/history
