Going to Cinque Terre late April/early May. How is the weather? What clothes do I pack?
We were there in late May and early June. We wore shorts, skirts and light tops. We did have some cool windy days though. I would bring skirts, capris and a warm spring jacket. I usually follow the weather for 7-10 days prior to leaving to get an idea of how the weather has been.
weather.com gives average weather by month, input la spezia, italy or genoa (genova) italy to get it to give you CT weather (close enough), when the current weather comes up, click on Averages & Records (I think it is)
We were just there last week and layers is the way to go. It is definitely fine to be walking around in shorts if it's hot- unlike the other places in Italy we went - but it could get cool quickly as well. It rained one night and got very cold - but I suspect it will be much nicer 4 weeks later. The day we hike all 5 towns, I was really wishing I had on a pair of shorts - so the weather changes - but I suspect it will be mild for the most part.
I also saw a lot of women in tank tops, etc - which I did not pack because I didn't think it would be that warm.
Hope that helps. Be sure to go to Il Pirate Cafe for their pastries (or just any meal) in Vernazza - it's out past the train station near the parking lot. Easy to miss or not see at all - but it's absolutely wonderful - we were so glad we stumbled on it!
More that likely it will be nice. Wear casual clothes but not beachwear for dinner. As always bring a light sweater or two to layer if it gets cold and bring a rain shell in case you get some rain. Even with warm days, the evenings may still be cool.
