clothing for Italy in July

Iusually wear linen and other cool fabrics in summer, but expect that knits will be better for packing light. Will light weight knits be comfortable?
Thanks in advance,

Betty

Hi, Betty.
Perhaps it depends on which part of Italy you will visit. If northern Italy, I can't advise. We were in Italy in late June, from Venice to Rome. The weather was in the high 80's, Rome low 90's, and quite humid. We live in Texas near the Gulf; we have months of heat and humidity, and some knits can be miserable here. We did not take any of the travel knits of polyester, even though they are so packable, because we had read about the same heat and humidity in Italy. Our capris, pants, and tops were lightweight cotton blends, cotton knits, seersucker...we did pack very light and tight, with only a carryon, so things were wrinkled, but we would plan our clothes the night before, spritz them lightly with water, smooth out the wrinkles, and hang...next morning, they were good to go. My one skirt for evenings was of crinkle fabric. The travel knits would be ok for evening outings if there is little walking involved, but not for extensive walking, IMO. Have a super trip! Ciao!
