I will be in Ortigia on December 24 and 25, departing the morning of the 26th. I was hoping to see the Caravaggio at Chiesa Santa Lucia alla Badia. The church hours state that they are open every day from 11 to 4, but is there a way that I can confirm that this includes the 24th and 25th of December?

The website I found, indicates it is closed on Mondays. Dec 24 is a Monday this year.

I did not search, but see if there is a way to contact the Archdiocese of Siracusa to determine if it will be open on Christmas.
Personally, I would not assume it will be open Christmas day.

Thanks for your answer. I learned from a website that the church is under the supervision of the Curia (Curia offices at: 0931 65328) and found this phone number but I don't speak Italian to ask!!!

Try to contact the Ortigia Tourist Office, or Siracusa Tourist Office. The websites will have “contact us”info.
