We are trying to find the quickest option to get to either Germany, Venice, Spain or Amsterdam before heading to Scotland. It doesn't matter if it is train, though I suspect it will be plane.

Pisa is about the closest airport to the Cinque Terre, but Genova is also reasonably close. Travel from the Cinque Terre to Venice will be easier by train.

Pisa used to have it own little airport train station. It was scrapped, but they just opened the new shuttle tram that directly connects it to Pisa Centrale (main train station) in just a few minutes and costs 2.70 EUR. So that would be my choice. Genoa is a little further away (maybe) and you need to take a bus (Volabus) between the airport and Genoa's 2 main train stations that takes about a half hour and costs 6 EUR, which you can pay the driver. Pisa has good connections to other major European cities.
