Clearing customs in Paris for trip to Turin, Italy

We are flying Seattle to Paris and then Paris to Turin. We have one hour and ten minute layover. Should this be enough time to clear customs before our next flight leaves? I'm starting to get a little nervous we won't have enough time. We are flying Delta (Air France)

We flew the same route last year with a 1 hour layover and BARELY made our flight. The only reason we did is because when we got to passport control there was a HUGE line but there was no line at the First Class window (which is to the left after you get off the escalator), so my hubby ran over and explained that we were in business class and had a close connection and they let us go through that line. So if you encounter a big line at passport control, try that trick. But if you miss your flight, don't worry, there should be several others during the day. Check Air France's schedule.

Interestingly I just got off a online chat with Delta and they are saying we go through immigration in Seattle and customs in Turin so our layover should be fine. Seems like we should go through immigration in Paris.

It is possible to go through immigrations in Seattle if it has been set up that way. Many US flights from Canada have immigrations at the departure airport.

Since you are departing from Seattle, you won't go through immigration there. As Paris is your first point of entry into the EU, you go through passport control in Paris. I seem to remember also going through a security check in Paris, which sticks in my mind because I was freaking out about having to take the extra time to do that. I agree that you would go through customs in Turin, which simply involves walking through the "Nothing to Declare" door.

There's departure location immigration procedures all over the place. It sounds like it will be Delta/AF into Terminal 2E and Air Frace to Turin out of Terminal 2D. They're in the same complex. It's a bit less than a fifteen minute walk between the two.

I looked up the flight from Paris to Turin and right now it looks to be departing from 2G which means hopping on the shuttle (at least that is what it looks like to me). I'm crossing my fingers all will go smoothly. lol

ekc is correct. There is no departure immigration in Seattle. You will need to go through immigration (passport control) on arrival in Paris and most likely another security line. Passport line usually isn't more than 10 min., but the security there in the last 2 years (we have been a few times) has been excruciatingly slow. They made everyone remove EVERYTHING with a wire from their bags, including phones, earbuds, camera chargers, etc. I have seen folks just barrel to the front of the line trying to make a tight connection. It frustrates me, but I understand why they are doing it. Customs will be in Turin and is basically a non-event unless you have something specific to . Otherwise, you just walk right through and exit into the main terminal.

Personally, I don't think that is enough time. I had about the same in Frankfort coming from the US then going on to Geneva. Passport control was not bad, but had to go back through security. That line was really long. I saw several people push their way through the line because of tight connections, but me being a "good" US/girl citizen. I waited my turn and was sweating by the time I finally got through. I literally RAN from security to my gate, and I was the very last person on the bus to go to the tarmac to our plane. I think they knew I was coming - TG. I highly recommend at least 2 hours from the time you land in Paris before your connecting flight to Turin. I understand there are other flights...but what about your luggage? It will go on the first flight and site at Turn awaiting you...who will be there to claim it? What if you can't get on the very next flight? How many hours between all these flights? Be nervous. Plan ahead. It's better to have more time in Paris then hoping to get on a later flight. I'd rather look at my watch and know that I have time to get through everything and walk to my gate, and perhaps have time to grab something to drink, or find an ATM to get some Euro.
That's just the way I plan my travel.

I too am scheduled to arrive at CDG from Los Angeles on Air France & have exactly 1 hour to make my connecting flight to Venice. When I booked the flight I questioned whether this would be enough time to make the connection & was told "yes" & that Air France wouldn't allow the booking if they didn't feel that it was adequate time. Whether it will be enough time or not remains to be seen. I know there are 3 other flights to Venice on the day I'm traveling but I don't want to sit around the airport for 3 hours between flights. Have a look at the following link on Air France's web site: http://www.airfrance.us/US/en/common/guidevoyageur/aeroport/correspondance_cdg.htm When you select your destination airport as CDG, then an option appears on the right side that allows you to download/print out a map of Terminal 2. In your situation, you will arrive at 2E & depart out of 2G. The map will help you familiarize yourself with the terminal so that you can hopefully navigate through a little faster. If I were you, I would definitely try to use the First Class line in Passport Control & explain that you have a tight connection; they may let you through which will help. We are traveling business class, not first class, but I am going to try to use the First Class line; can't hurt to try! Good luck!

Thanks for the advise on the terminal. I think I wouldn't be so concerned if I didn't have my mother with me as she is 70 and while she can walk she can't do long distances and certainly can't walk fast. Cross our fingers we can get to the gate on time!
