Classic Umbrellas in Rome

Hello. I’m in Rome and I would love to find an expensive, classic, beautiful umbrella to use for when it rains and as a light-walking cane. Does anyone know such a store in Rome? Not looking for a traditional department store or tourist shop, but someplace authentic and local. Grazie.

Department stores are authentic, locals shop there !

However you mean you want some cute little boutique store I guess .

Interesting and unique inquiry. I did a google search:

Worth a look at the lovely, handmade canes/umbrellas. Definitely an investment. It looks like their headquarters are in Naples, but maybe you can email them and ask if they sell their canes/umbrellas in high end department stores or boutiques in Rome. I would take a picture of the items you're interested in. It will be easier to communicate to a rep at a store.

Try this Galleria in Rome. https://www.galleriaalbertosordi.it/index.php It also has a lovely coffee bar in the middle of the Galleria.

If you are near the Trevi Fountain, it's a short walk down Via dei Crociferi. As with most stores that have a website, the walking directions are easy to plug in.

Maybe check out some of the more exclusive, boutique-style stores along the main streets. Sometimes, higher end/exclusive department stores may carry original and unique accessories such as the cane/umbrella. If they don't, perhaps the store representative can lead you to those retailers who may have that particular item.

Also worth a look-see.

How will you get it home?
I saw some interesting "real" umbrellas while traveling in France last month, but knew it wouldn't fit in my suitcase.

We lived in Rome for several years. Where I would go would be La Rinascente (dept. store) or the men’s store Della Rocca on Via Piave just south of Piazza Fiume.

Thank you all. I didn’t find what I wanted in Rome (left before your suggestion, @Laurel). But, I found exactly what I needed from this website. They had a retail outlet in Milan that I stopped by when going through Milano Centrale. Below is the maker’s website and the retailer I went to.

Maker (and the umbrella I ordered): https://www.pasottiombrelli.com/en/bespoke-men-umbrellas/142-milford-5-ht-solid-stick-hickory-umbrella/pr-2014

Milano Retailer: https://vigano-galleria.com

PS: I stopped by this shop. They do total custom umbrellas where you pick your fabric and handle. So charming. Would have done it, but I didn’t have time. https://www.ombrellimaglia.eu/en-gb/home
