I purchased 2 tickets for :
' Gala Night, La notte della Lirica e del Balletto con Cena (GALA EVENING‐LA NOTTE DELLA LIRICA E DEL BALLETTO) '
On the website they didn't mention Gala Night
in the description prior to purchasing the tickets. I was not planning to travel with formal attire.
Has anyone ever attended events by this company? Is a Gala night in Florence like a Gala night in NYC? I'm wondering if a black dress and black boots will suffice for Gala attire.

I think you will be fine. This looks like a tourist type show, not that there is anything wrong with that. If you go with the black dress and boots, you'll probably be in the upper quartile as far as clothing.
I'm sure it will be excellent, Italy pumps out tons of talented musicians and they can't all get jobs at La Scala. The venue appears to be about 150 seats, so should be quite intimate. Personally, I'd take that any day over sitting in the peanut gallery at the Met.
