Civitaveccia to Hotel near Colisseum to Vatican

Is there any way we can make it to our Vatican Tour at 10:30 am the morning we disembark our cruise ship in Civitaveccia? The Vatican is closing the Sistine Chapel early, and our tour is now scheduled for 10:30 am instead of 1 pm.

We'll need to secure our luggage at our hotel (or????) and then dash to the Vatican.

Is this even possible???

Thank you!!!

What time will they let you disembark? The train ride takes an hour, add a half hour to get to hotel and check in and another 20-30 minutes to get to the Vatican museums. I guess if you can be off the ship by 8am you should be able to make it.

I think you would be lucky to make it, frankly. Even with priority disembarkation I doubt you'd be off the ship before 8:00am. Then you have to go to the luggage shed, find your bags, walk to to the train station, buy your ticket after waiting in line and board the next train. I suspect all that would take the best part of an hour. Arrival in Rome Termini would be about 10:00, with only 30 minutes to get to your hotel, check in and join your tour at the Vatican. Can you get a refund for your tour?

We've done the trip from the port to Rome a number of times and agree with Norma. Your chances of making the 10:30 tour are slim and none. Think I would start looking for a "Plan B". Don't mean to rain on your parade, just trying to be realistic.

We had a cruise May 13-20 on the Norwegian Epic. Our boat docked at 6 am. We found the disembarkation prcess to be very quick.

If you carry off your luggage, you can easily be on the dock by 7 am.

You could take a cab or arrange a private car service like Bob's Limo to pick you up say no later than 7:30.

Assume 90 minutes travel time with a 30 minute safety and you will be at the hotel to drop off luggage, keep the car running and take you to the Vatican which should only be 15 to 30 minutes.
