Civita di Bagnoregio- Parking

Hi. We will be staying at the Civita B&B early May. Is anyone familiar with the parking arrangement at the bottom of the hill? Just wondering if it is a pay facility (from what I've read somedays yes and somedays no?) and also how safe will the rental car be left overnight? Not that it really matters. No force in the world could keep my wife from spending the night above the clouds. Just curious.

Was up in Civita last month. You can park at the bottom of the hill below the bridge for free - although it is limited. You can also park at the top of the hill, in front of an abandoned school? and walk down to the bridge - also free!

As far as safe, could not speak to. There were lights there, but you could always park up in the village of Bagnoregio overnight if you're concerned.

By the way, it's quite an experience. We drove in from Rome, had a great lunch at Trattoria Antico Forno, as recommended by RS, but left that evening. Would have loved to have spent the night!!!

Ciao!

Our family visited Civita in August 2007 and we parked right at the base of the bridge but I'm pretty sure we had to pay for parking. Can't remember how much and it may have been because it was during high season. We also ate at the above-mentioned restaurant and enjoyed it. Have a great trip!
