Rick recommends visiting Civita early in the day to beat crowds. I can't find any posted hours. I'll be driving rental car so early time is wide open. Does Civita have a set opening time for visitors, or can I just show up anytime? Thanks in advance for your help!
People live there in Civita (11 of them at the last census).
Towns don't close down. They are not shops.
Roberto, it appears to require an entry ticket, and it appears to have posted sightseeing hours? Am I confused?
They introduced a ticket to cross the bridge during the pandemic during the hours of maximum tourist flow (8am to 8pm) to control that not too many people enter at the same time. It's 5euro.
However it's free if you enter before 8am or after 8pm. You can even stay there at night. I think there is more than one B&B.
I would imagine that on weekends, esp. Sundays, there is a long line, therefore it's best to arrive early.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for that, Roberto. It's a place I've been interested in seeing but hadn't looked it up for awhile!
I’ll just add that we visited in 2006 while on a tour of Tuscany. It took about 15 minutes to cross the bridge. A unique experience. Our group walked the village and enjoyed lunch & wine at a family owned restaurant. They made delicious Bruschetta in an open oven. We also went down to their wine cellar as well. The town exudes historical charm. Glad we had the opportunity to visit. Enjoy!
