I want to visit Citta-di-Castello in Umbria, not too far from Assisi. However, the railway web site doesn't seem to recognize the name. Has anyone been? Can you provide any guidance on public transportation? Any lodging suggestions? I'd welcome any input. Thanks

Sherry, I went several years ago when I was staying in Perugia. The regular Italian Trenitalia does not go there. Perugia had a local train station that stopped in small villages. I cannot recall the name of it, but I took it to Citta di Castello. It think you can also take the Sita bus. If you cannot take the bus from Assisi, you could go to Perugia (30 min) and take the local train, which is not at the main station.
It is a lovely town with incredible art in churches there and wonderful buildings.
