I am taking the Circumvesuviana from Naples to Pompeii for an afternoon tour and on to Sorrento for the evening on 9-24. Do you purchase one ticket for the Naples to Sorrento trip and get off in Pompeii or should two tickets be purchased; 1) Naples to Pompeii & 2) Pompeii to Sorrento?

Purchase through to Sorrento. It is a non reserved train and I think the ticket is good for 24 hours.

It would be cheaper to buy two one hour tickets @ 4 euro, the daily ticket costs 12 euro. http://www.unicocampania.it/index.php?lang=en¢er=inside&colonna=biglietti&action=1 You can buy both at the start of your journey in Naples, the clock starts ticking for each ticket when you stamp them in the validation machines at the station
