Circumvesuvania train in Sorrento area

Our family is booked at a Villa apartment in Sant'Agnello, one station before Sorrento. We will be there for a week in early June. I just noticed this morning that they have taken the station off the list and the service to Sant'Agnello seems to be closed. Has anyone heard anything as I can't seem to find info on the internet? Thanks In advance.

Who has taken Sant' Agnello station off what list?

There is a drop down menu under station for departure and arrival in the Circumvesuviana website. For the past few days I have been putting info in a document for our use. Today suddenly S. Agnello station does not appear. I checked every name in the menu to see if I had missed it but to no avail. It seems they have taken the station off their list. I don't know if this is because of construction or something else. It is not a very big deal, but it will mean having to walk to Sorrento each time! I was wondering if anyone had heard something.
Thanks

So sorry, the website is working fine now with Sant'Agnello. I really do not know what was wrong but I was getting stations on it with names like BED AND BREAKFAST and BY MONK! Either somehow I got into some weird website or it was hacked or something. But thanks for asking Linda. I feel really silly but am glad we won't have to walk all the way to Sorrento. :)
Thanks for bearing with me

I read a post on Cruise Critic about the Circumvesuvania train from someone who was just in Sorrento. Apparently the line is having major financial problems and trains are intermittant at best, with constant route cancellations, delays, and overcrowded conditions. The poster was suggesting for cruisers with limited time in the area not rely on the train to get them from Naples to Sorrento, but to use the hydrofoil or private drivers instead. She posted a video from inside one of the trains and it looked horribly crowded with riders standing and packed like sardines. Possibly when you were looking online for your trip to Sant'Agnello, that station's service had been temporarily cancelled. Hopefully they figure this out and solve their problems before the big summer tourist season. I was planning on using it to get from Naples to Sorrento in July, but am going to investigate the hydrofoil as well.

I rode the Circumvesuviana back in September and everything schedule-wise was fine, but things do change over time, especially with the financial situation over there. The ride is herky-jerky as the driver would haul ass between stations and then come to an abrupt halt. If you choose this route, definitely make sure you get on the express train, as it has fewer stops and takes far less time. There are also unsavories on the train and on the platform sizing you over... Doing it all over again, I would choose to hire a car instead. I was offered this service by our Pompeii tour guide for 75 Euro (3 people) and would jump at the chance.

Thank you for all the info you posted. It is disappointing that the Circumvesuviana is experiencing problems. However our first trip to Italy was in 1995, before the Euro zone. We fell in love with the country warts and all! I am sure we will chug along somehow. Also this is our 4th trip but the first to Southern Italy. I will post about our trip and how the trains worked out so others can benefit from it. We are planning on boarding from Porta Nolana, which is the beginning station in Naples even tho Rick Steves eschews it. We figure we will get seating room at least and avoid the sleazier Garibaldi station! We will also try to catch the trains from Sorrento.
Another plus on our side, we tend to be really early risers and plan on catching the 7:30 am to 8:00 am trains. Thanks again

I was in Sorrento 6 weeks ago and the trains were running fine, if sometimes 5-6 minutes behind schedule.

We were in Naples 2 weeks ago and used circumvesuviana to Sorrento. We experienced late and severely overcrowded trains, erratic speed, and being 'sized up' on the platform as mentioned in previous posts. We survived the journey with our possessions intact but, boy oh boy, what an adventure! Don't think I would do it again!
