I am having trouble getting any info from the Circumvesuviana site. When I put in Naples Central to Sorrento on Oct. 5, 2009 (05/10/09?) the response is error in application. What am I doing wrong? Also, I saw in RS Italy 2009 that the bus from Sorrento back to Rome is good but now I can't find that reference so I don't know where I'll end up in Rome that way and if I can easily get on the Metro if I do. Will be making that trip 0n Oct. 7th. Thanks, Becky
It appears the problem is with the site. Perhaps they don't have their schedule online that far ahead. I was only able to get info for the month of August. Anything later than that came up with the error message. Since you have such a long time before you go, don't panic, they should have it fixed soon. Not sure what time you were thinking about goingbut I found trains at 10:11 and 10:41 am taking 1:06 to get to Sorrento.
Buses from Sorrento to Rome are by Marozzi, it takes 4 hours and leave at 6:00 and 17:00 daily, arriving at Rome Tiburtina Station (www.marozzivt.it). From Tiburtina you take the metro B Line to Termini.
Thanks! Is the metro stop easy to spot from the Tributina station?
Becky, on www.vesuviana.com, you want Napoli-Garibaldi as your departure station. Napoli Centrale is the Trenitalia station on the upper level of the adjoining building. They are two different train systems. These trains run every 30 minutes. The bus schedules from Rome/Sorrento or Sorrento/Rome are not nearly as frequent. The Tiburtina train station is 4 stops away from Rome Termini on Metro Line B.
The Curreri bus company run a Rome - Sorrento service. They also leave from Tiburtina.
