We will be coming to the Cinque Terre September 23 to the 27 this year. It will be our first time there, any suggestions of where to stay? We love to hike and want to explore all the towns.
WE stayed in Vernazza and loved it,we rented a small apt.with kitchen off the main road and away from the train station,we got through Gina Franzi who is listed in Ricks book, in 2008 it was only 75 Euros a night,I can get more details if you want
Hi Lisa. I visited the Cinque Terre 2 years ago. I stayed in Monterosso at a delightful inn called La Poesia Camere. It was the highlight of my trip. The owner Nicolette was wonderful and very helpful. Nice and clean and in a wonderful lacation. The room was a bit small but are'nt they all. I plan on staying there again next year. Enjoy your trip and safe travels.
Have been to the C.T. 3x in the last several years and always have stayed in Vernazza. Last July spent 4 nights in Francamara's rm 1. This room has a wonderful harbor/square view and will accommodate at least 3 people. Rm 2 also has the same view but is a smaller room and I think can only accommodate 2 people.
In Vernazza:
www.elisabettacarro.it for the best view in town!
Lisa, we were there around the same dates last year, we stayed in Manarola and loved it! We stayed at www.carugiu.com If you get a chance, go for a swim, the water was nice and warm!
Last year, we stayed in Antico Burgo,in Dosso..above Levanto....a very nice place, great breakfasts. Drove to Levanto each day, parked our car while we visited Cinqueterre for three days in a row. Took the boat trip from Levanto to Portovenere...great photos of the Cinqueterre towns from the boat. Dosso is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards....smells wonderful
Clearly everyone has their favorites, so you already have some great suggestions. We just returned and stayed in Manarola at Francesca 1 through www.acasa5terre.it. It had a balcony overlooking the town and the sea for 130 euros for four of us. We loved Manarola because it is picturesque and just touristy enough to have great restaurants. Vernazza was a bit too touristy and crowded for us. Monterosso is beautiful, but laid out differently as it is not on a steep hill, but rather spread out along a sand and pebble beach. Wherever you choose, you can hop on the train for a brief ride to the other towns. Have a great time!
We stayed in Monterosso at Hotel Pasquale...right on the water, a fabulous spot.
