Cinque Terre visitor restrictions

Is there an annual cap on visitors to the CT? We want to extend our October tour for 3 days but recently heard there may be an annual maximum. How would we know? Thank you.

Most of the things I have seen regarding limiting access and a maximum annual visitors date from 2016. They were short on the details then, talked about a ticket system, but nothing really materialized. Venice is also playing with a "fee to visit" system, and while the goal is to limit visitors, they really are not capping it.

Of course the idea of an annual limit is more goal than strict limit idea, they had something like 2.5 Million visitors in 2015, so to limit to 1.5 Million, what are they going to do? Shut down the area from August through December?, there would need to be some daily limit, lots of details, all that just has not happened.

Probably the best route would be to ask where you reserve lodging, they likely will chuckle and tell you not to worry about it, especially in October

micki,

I don't believe there are any restrictions in the Cinque Terre, at least not at the present time. This may set your mind at ease - https://www.incinqueterre.com/en/ . The first line of the information section at the top answers your question.

Hope you have a great time!

The short answer is no.
Last I read, if limits will be applied in the future, it'll likely be for the most popular trails and not the villages themselves.
