Laurel, I've also been following a number of the C.T. Blogs on a daily basis, and keeping in touch with people there every few days. It appears that some progress is being made, but it's a slow and laborious process. Getting Vernazza back to normal is going to take awhile, as some of the infrastructure has to be re-built. This Thread is a good reminder that residents there still need a lot of financial help. As mentioned on one of the Blogs, the people affected have no insurance coverage, as the floods were considered a "natural event". The sites where donations can be made at this time via credit card (details are on the Blogs): > Italian Red Cross > Save Vernazza Residents of Monterosso hope to have a website for donations organized shortly. The Bank Transfer option that is mentioned on a lot of the Blogs seems a bit "cumbersome", so may not be an easy option for people from this part of the world.

Laurel, A further update..... I believe that Monterosso now has a website set up for donations via PayPal or credit card. This appears to be very similar to the one set-up on the Save Vernazza ONLUS website. Anyone interested in donating can find the link on This Website. Part of the site is in Italian, but instructions are included to work through that. Click on the "Donazione" link right at the top of the page. Cheers!

I donated to the Save Vernazza site a few days ago via Paypal. Really easy and English all the way. I would encourage anyone heading to the CT area to drop by, there shouldn't be many crowds :-( so those folks could use the business. I'll definitely be headed that way when I get back to Italy.

Great to have clarity on the domation process! Thanks, Ken and Darren. I posted the blogs in hopes some readers who are wondering "if" they should go to the CT next spring will realize that yes, they will be well on their way to "open for business," and we should not cut them out of our travel plans.

Laurel, The work in Monterosso seems to be progressing well, so hopefully tourists won't be discouraged from returning there next year. I'm sure the crews are also hard at work in Vernazza, but I haven't seen any updates for a few days, so I don't know what the status is. I will definitely be adding another visit to the C.T. to my Itinerary for next year!
