Cinque Terre Travel Pass ?

We will be staying 2 nights in CT this September .. planning to arrive in Corniglia sometime in the afternoon on 1st day - maybe a short hike, then have a full 2nd day to do some more hiking and train to the various towns, leaving for Rome directly after checking out from Corniglia on the 3rd day. Will I need a 2 day or 3 day CT Pass (for the trails and train) since I will be going directly out on the 3rd day (will transfer at La Spenzia) ?? Looking to buy my Rome Train ticket and CT pass in advance so I will not need to wait in line .. thanks for any input.

If you buy your advance Trenitalia ticket as departing Corniglia - not La Spezia! - and arriving in Rome, then you only need a CT Treno pass for 2 days. Your Trenitalia ticket will cover the entire 3rd-day journey from Corniglia>Rome and any transfers along the way. Does this make sense?

This, BTW, is the official website for the park, passes and whatnot. Your pass will also cover use of the little bus that travels up/down the steep hill between Corniglia and its train station, allowing you to skip the long, 382-step stairway. Bus schedules are (or were when we were there, anyway) roughly coordinated with the trains.

Be SURE and validate your CT Treno pass the first time you use it to board a regional train. However, if you have a "through" ticket to Corniglia from wherever you're coming from on Day 1, you won't need the pass for that. Again, does this make sense?
