CINQUE TERRE trails

How do I find out which trails have closures?

Hi Glen -
Reference the park map and list/descriptions of individual trails. Those with black lines and/or marked with red-and-white circles are closed:

Two to be especially aware of?

592-1 (SVA2) Riomaggiore - Manarola
592-2 (SVA2) Manarola - Corniglia

These two segments of the Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) have been closed for some time and will remain so through this season.

OK - thanks,
I'm going to photograph the same things everyone else has photographed - I know, I'm very creative and reproducing someone else's images is very not very challenging. Just understand that this is my starting point and I'll venture from there.

Manarola, Riomaggiore, and Vernazza.

I'm assuming the following - please correct me where I'm wrong..
1) I can get to the typical locations for each of these places
2) To get to and from each of these cities/towns I will need to take the train (best option)

Depending on what you think is "typical", I would guess so.
Yes, if not up to taking some of the longer, more strenuous trails which bypass closed segments of the "Blue", train is your fastest option. You may also take a ferry to each of these.

If you are purchasing individual train tickets to get around, don't forget to validate them before boarding: fines are large and the authorities here have a habit of checking. If you intend to hike any segment of the "Blue" you will need to purchase a park pass, and a version which includes unlimited train travel, 2nd class, between Levanto and La Spezia is possible as well. If you buy the train pass, you only need to validate it the first time you use it.
