Cinque Terre to Venice

Would love to include a few days in cinque Terre before heading to Venice. Is it too ambitious of a Train ride between the two locations?

I guess it depends on how long your trip is and how much free time you have. It's not too bad....5.5 hours with one change of trains.

Go to:
www.trenitalia.com
Enter
FROM: Cinque Terre town you depart from (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore)
TO: Venezia Santa Lucia
Date: enter a date in the next 7 days since Regional trains are loaded weekly
Hour of departure: choose any from 01 and up to 24, depending on the approximate time you intend to depart.

You will see all possible solutions starting from the Hour you enter. One train change only is possible only if you depart from Monterosso and go to Venice via Milan. Most other scenarios will require more train changes. The fastest are generally via Florence (Firenze), but require at least 2 train changes.

As I have already written a couple of times this is not true anymore. Now you can buy regional trains tickets up to 120 days in advance, with the limit of the timetable changes of June 12 and December 11.
Here is a printscreen of trenitalia.com showing a Regional train leaving on June 10 on sale now: 1http://postimg.org/image/4lagstupd/
