We will be leaving Montorosso on Oct 8 for Milan where we can only stay one night and then fly home the next day(10/9) from Milan malpensa.
Any recommendations on where we should stay for an early departure the next day. Any must see things to do in Milan for that one day? Thanks for any help
Jay, lots of things to do in Milano. There's Santa Maria delle Grazie if you want to see Leonardo's "Last Supper" (you'll need reservations), and the Castello Sforzesco is a great place for art and history, or just to stroll around the gardens. The Brera Art Gallery is also high on my list, but I love museums. If you visit the Duomo, there's an elevator you can take to the roof (extra charge for this) and you can commune close-up with the gargoyles while you have great views of the city (if it's not foggy).
We will be doing this 2 weeks before you. Reservations for the "Last Supper" disappear quickly. We had to book a tour in order to get in. It starts at Duomo at 2:30 and ends up at the "Last Supper" at 5:30. We already have a hotel set up and will take the subway to Cadorna station early in the morning and catch the Malpensa Express train 35 min to the airport. We're probably taking the same 9:35 plane. The "Last Supper" and Cadorna station are just a few blocks from each other. I did not investigate hotels in that neighborhood.
