Hi, I need to get from Cinque Terre to Milan Malpensa, then take a flight to Amsterdam. What's the best way to get to Milan Malpensa from Cinque Terre? And would I have time to make a quick detour to see the Last Supper in Milan before flying out?
I will be having my suitcase with me though, is there anyway to store it in Milan Central train station while I see the Last Supper? Also, while we're at it, do you have any tour companies to suggest for the Last Supper? Thank you!
Joyce, The trip from the Cinque Terre to MXP is rather straight forward, but it would help to have more detailed information. For example, which C.T. town will you be staying in, which airline are you using for the flight to Amsterdam, and what time is your flight? I believe there is a Deposito Bagagli office at Milano Centrale, but it will take some time to get there, drop the luggage and then retrieve it on the way back. As I recall, you need reservations to visit The Last Supper, so you'd have to ensure that you could get there by the appointed time. Happy travels!
I am staying in Riomaggiore. I haven't bought the tickets to Amsterdam because I'm trying to find out whether I should buy a later flight so that I can see the Last Supper in between, or if I should skip Last Supper and just get to Amsterdam earlier.
What town are you staying at in the Cinque Terre? When you know the town and the date you are travelling, you can use this site to look at train schedules: http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en To determine whether or not you have time to go into central Milan to see the Last Supper, once again, check the train schedules. Depending on what time of year you are travelling, you most likely will have to have reservations to see the Last Supper. It is a controlled viewing. In the Rick Steves' guidebook he does outline what you can do to see it without reservations.
Joyce, Thanks for the additional information. Depending on which train you choose, the trip from Riomaggiore to Milan will range from about 3.5 hours to almost 5 hours. The reason I asked which airline you'd be flying with was to determine which Terminal you'd be departing from. Some of the budget airlines depart from Terminal 2, so it's easier to use the Malpensa Shuttle (Bus) from Milano Centrale rather than the train. Cheers!
Hi, I've decided not to see the Last Supper before flying to Amsterdam. So I have two options: 1. Train from Riomaggiore (9.35am) to Pisa (11am), train is 1hr 25m and then flying from Pisa to Amsterdam on Transavia at 2.15pm for 190EUR 2. Train from Riomaggiore (10.15am) to Milan (1.50), train is 3hr 35m
and then flying from Milan Malpensa to Amsterdam on EasyJet at 6.45pm for 90EUR Is Transavia reliable? For 100 EUR more, I get to cut the train journey to half and arrive in Amsterdam earlier....but everyone seems to be recommended EasyJet for europe flights
