Cinque Terre to Como

What is the best way to get from Cinque Terre to Como?

Go back to La Spezia or on through one of the towns??

I looked on Rome2Rio's website and when you plug in La Spezia it says 4 hours 34 mins, if you Plug in Vernazza to Como - it is 5 hours and 20 min? Looks to be the same route?

rh,

Could you clarify one point - are you going to the town of Como or some other town on Lago di Como? In any case, it's a very straightforward trip. There's no need to go to La Spezia, as that's in the opposite direction of where you want to go. Which of the five towns are you starting from? It will be easier to provide more detailed suggestions if you could provide more detailed information.

As the previous reply indicated, you'll get the information from the Trenitalia or Bahn.de websites.

Really undecided about where home base should be in CT.

We wanted to go to Varenna, but it is WAY up there. Adds a lot of time to the trip. You almost waste a day on the train getting there from CT.

You have to go through Genova and Milano. Going by train from Milano, Varenna is just a more distant than Como.
