Cinque Terre to Amalfi Coast

We are working on planning our honeymoon- arriving from Toronto on September 13, 2017 and leaving September 23. I've already visited Rome, Florence Venice and Sorrento. We are thinking of flying into Genoa and staying in Monterosso for 4 nights, then taking the train (about 7 hours long!) to Naples and taking a car to Positano where we'll stay for 6 nights. Has anyone traveled from one of the Cinque Terre towns to the Amalfi Coast area? We are looking for options that may make more sense. Any suggestions welcome, thanks!!

I'd choose visiting either the Amalfi Coast or Cinque Terre, as they're somewhat alike.
And the only direct flights that come in or go to Toronto are into Rome FCO Airport. That means it'd be much more efficient to visit the Amalfi Coast.
There are many other great cities in Italy you could visit that you've not been to before with the time savings.

gina,

The Cinque Terre (and specifically Monterosso) is a great place for your first stop and a great place to recover from jet lag. You could fly either to Genoa, Florence or Pisa to get to the C.T. If you're flying with Air Canada, it's easy to get to Florence (and probably to Pisa) with a connection in Frankfurt.

The shortest trips from Monterosso to Napoli Centrale will be about 5H:53M with 2 changes.

"to Naples and taking a car to Positano where we'll stay for 6 nights"

Are you referring to a rental car or a private car service?
