cinque terre to aix en provence

Hi!

Can anyone recommend the best way to travel from Cinque Terre to Aix en Provence?

  • is there a night train?
  • if none, is there an afternoon train we can take, then overnight at a stopover (maybe Nice?), then proceed to Aix en Provence in the AM?
  • is there an overnight ferry?
  • how about bus ride?

Train. Most require several changes (Genoa, Ventimiglia, Nice, Marseille), but if you are willing to leave very early, there in one option with one change only (Ventimiglia). It's a 9.5+ hour trip in the best case scenario.

There is no overnight train and I'm also not aware of any useful bus or ferry. An overnight in Nice does help break up the long travel day. Some of the Italian regional-train schedules are only published through June 14, at the moment.
