We would like to take a trip from Florence to Cinque terre in mid March. We will have 9 people in our group and would prefer a small group experience rather than a large coach bus. We can handle a bit of walking but aren't interested in a real hiking trip. I have tried viator who cannot accommodate our number and have reached out to Adventure belissime twice but have heard nothing. Can anyone recommend a tour that would fit our needs?
Blesueur,
March may not be the best time to visit the CT as the weather is very iffy and many establishments may not be open until April 1st.
I understand and wish we were visiting at a different time, but we are not. Since the tours are offered In March, we had hoped that it would be a worthwhile visit. We realize that we would not be using the ferry but assumed that we would be driven from town to town.
Blesueur,
Check out the WalkAbout Florence website. It may not be exactly what you had in mind. I took a day trip with them and it was great. Not sure if they go in March.
If you do find such a tour, note that the driving from town to town in the Cinque Terre is by circuitous routes through the hills and will take some time. Parking lots are up the hill, too. Trains are more direct and fast, even if you may have to wait for them. If you've taken other trains earlier in the trip, these will feel similar.
My memories of the CT are that when you are in the towns, they are much like any other Italian towns, though maybe a bit steeper than most. The views of the villages are from the trails between them and especially from the ferry.
